What We Learned This Past Month:

  • We learned about characters’ feelings and traits by noticing what they say and do.
  • We wrote personal narratives. These are stories about small moments that gave us big feelings.

What We Will Be Learning Next Month:

  • We will begin our non-fiction unit.  Students will learn to ask and answer questions as they are reading and identify the main idea of the text.
  • Students will continue to work on their decoding, fluency, and comprehension skills during whole group and small group instruction.
  • In writing, students will begin writing “All About” books.

What We Learned This Past Month:

  • We completed our first base 10 unit.  In this unit, students learned to read, write, and identify the place value of each digit in a two digit numeral.
  • Students learned how to identify the number that is 10 more and 10 less than a given number, compare and order numbers, and round to the nearest ten.

What We Will Be Learning Next Month:

  • Students will learn to estimate and measure length to the nearest inch, estimate and measure weight to the nearest pound, and read the temperature on a Fahrenheit thermometer to the nearest 10 degrees.
  • We will begin our next Addition and Subtraction unit.  We will determine and estimate sums and differences. Create and solve single-step and two-step problems.
  • Students will continue to practice equality through the use of the equal (=) and not equal (≠) symbol.
