Attendance Reporting

When reporting a student's absence, please be specific about why your student will not attend school today.  

  • If reporting an ill student, include symptoms, especially if they have a fever, nausea, vomiting, sore throat, and/or cough. If your student has a diagnosis from a healthcare provider, please include that information.

Partial Day Absences

Beginning of Day

Students arriving late after 8:45 a.m. will be marked unexcused tardy.

  • Parents/legal guardian may call 703-206-5331 before 10 a.m. to report a late arrival.
  • A Parent/legal guardian must accompany their student into the building when arriving late. Please bring identification with you. 

One of our attendance staff will contact you if they need additional information.

Early Check-Out 

Please let the Attendance Office know if you need your student to leave school early.  If the following options are not followed, we cannot guarantee a speedy checkout, so please make sure you notify the attendance office prior to picking up your student to ensure you make your appointment or commitment on time.  Due to staff responsibilities at the end of the day, we are not able to honor unannounced early dismissals after 2 p.m.

You can inform the school of your student's early check-out by:

  • The student brings a note to the Attendance Office before 10 a.m. The note must include the following - student name, date and time of when a student is leaving, and reason for early check-out, student ID, parent signature, and contact number. 
  • Call the attendance line at 703-206-5331, before 12 p.m.  

You must come into the attendance office with identification to check your student out.

If returning to school that same day, parents/legal guardian must accompany your student into the building and check in at the Attendance office.

Students who need to leave school early must be picked up before 2 p.m.

  • Parent/legal guardian should call 703-206-5331 to notify the school of the student's early departure.
  • Parent/legal guardian should call 703-206-5331 if there is a change in how their student will go home.
