Concept-based learning encourages learning between different subjects such as science, math and literacy and connects all learning to a big theme or concept. In quarter 1, the Kindergarten concept we focused on was community. Students learned about community helpers, the rules of a community, places we go in a community and the members of a community. To celebrate this learning, we welcomed the students' family communities into our classrooms for our Community Celebration. Students shared their learning by reading their community books and families were invited to bring any food item that is special to their family!
