Important Dates & Reminders

• Wednesday - June 1, 2022 - Field Day: Please send an extra change of clothes with your child as they will be engaging in different outdoor and water activities.  Please also ensure that your child has a water bottle!
• Thursday, June 9, 2022 - 2nd Grade End of the Year Party
• Friday, June 10, 2022 - Early Release Day and the Last Day of School

Language Arts

What We Learned This Past Month:

We started our final reading and writing unit: Author & Illustrator Studies.  Students will learn how to analyze a specific author or illustrator.  Then students will apply some of those techniques in their own writing.

What We Will Be Learning Next Month: 

Students will continue to study different authors and illustrators to incorporate techniques into their own writing.

Math

What We Learned This Past Month:

We continued our time and money units. Students learned to identify the four coins and count collections of coins and dollar bills up to a $2.00 value. 

We finished our data and graphing unit. Students gathered data and showed their information using picture graphs and bar graphs. 

What We Will Be Learning Next Month: 

Students will complete the final math unit: Probability. Students will conduct experiments, gather data, and learn to predict future outcomes. 

Science

What We Learned This Past Month:

Students finished their final science unit: Monarchs, Milkweed & Mexico, Part 2.  Students learned that plants and animals change as they grow. They also learned that weather and seasonal changes affect plants, animals and their surroundings. 

Social Studies

What We Learned This Past Month: 

We began to learn why United States’ citizens celebrate Memorial Day, Juneteenth, and Independence Day.

What We Will Be Learning Next Month:

We will continue to learn about the United States’ holidays.
