Important Dates & Reminders

  • June 1st – Field Day
  • June 10th – Last Day of School! Early Release!

Language Arts

We did our best on the SOLs in May! We are so proud of our students’ hard work! We are currently working on persuasive writing and our book club unit. We explored different types of reviews and wrote our own reviews about a product, place, book or movie! During reading, students participated in small book clubs. They learned how to include every member in the conversation by taking turns and building on each other’s ideas!  Next up, critical literacy! We will examine who holds the power in books and what privilege looks like in text.

Math

This month we have reviewed 2D and 3D shapes, measuring in the US Customary and Metric systems, graphing and data, and probability. The students reviewed all topics for their SOLs and finished their 4th grade math year strong!  To prepare for 5th grade, all students should continue to practice their multiplication facts over the summer break!

Advanced Math

This month we started our second unit on decimal computation! This unit builds on top of our whole-number multiplication and division unit as well as our decimal unit on addition and subtraction. So far, students have learned how to multiply decimals and are now learning how to solve division problems with decimals.  To prepare for 5th grade, all students should continue to practice their multiplication facts over the summer break!

Science

We are wrapping up our unit on the Solar System! It was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Students were fascinated by each of the planets, phases of the moon, and learning about the impact of Earth’s rotation on the seasons and us here on Earth!

Social Studies

We have wrapped up Social Studies for the year!
