Language Arts

What We Learned This Past Month:

  • We identified characters’ traits and feelings by noticing what they say and do.
  • We wrote personal narratives that told about moments that really happened to us.

What We Will Be Learning Next Month: 

  • We will learn to recognize nonfiction text features and use them to learn about a topic.
  • We will write about topics we know a lot about so we can teach others.

Math

What We Learned This Past Month:

  • We learned to identify the place value of each digit in a two-digit numeral.
  • We learned to find numbers that are 10 more and 10 less that numbers up to 120.
  • We learned to compare and order numbers.

What We Will Be Learning Next Month: 

  • We will explore estimating and measuring to the nearest inch
  • We will explore estimating and measuring to the nearest pound.

Science

What We Learned This Past Month:

  • We compared life cycles of different living things.
  • We learned how plants and animals use adaptations to survive when seasons change.

What We Will Be Learning Next Month:

  • We will explore weather by identifying, observing, and recording different types of weather events around us.

Social Studies

What We Learned This Past Month: 

  • We learned about American symbols and traditions.
  • We learned about United States geography.

What We Will Be Learning Next Month:

  • We will explore 3 regions of Native Americans: the Eastern Woodlands, the Great Plains, and the Southwest.

Other News

We are currently planning our first field trip! It will be on Friday, December 2. We’ll be visiting Huntley Meadows Park in Alexandria. Our focus will be on how the Powhatan lived in Virginia long ago. Stay tuned for more information…
