Themes:  All About Me & My Community, Geography, & Seasonal Changes

Outcomes:

• Students will begin to understand that a community is where people live, work, and play.
• Students will begin to demonstrate basic knowledge of being members of a diverse community.
• Students will continue to make cultural connections between home and community.
• Students will continue learning about different foods from different countries; sort by category
• Students will practice recalling facts/characters and retell a story like We’re Going on a Bear Hunt with scenery pictures
• Continue to follow Listening Rules and learn character traits through Second Step

Sample Activities (may vary by classroom):

• Read about different communities and make connections with what we see or do in our own community/neighborhood
• Alphabet and numeral activities through Bingo and letter/numeral scavenger hunts; begin recognizing them in the community
• Winter and community activities and crafts
• Recall events and characters in stories; recite memorized lines from a story and begin practice retelling a story
• Mindfulness activities including breathing exercises
