What We Learned This Past Month

Reading: 

• We worked on following reading workshop routines. 
• We shared our ideas with partners and the whole group.
• We worked on learning about short A and short I words like “cat” and “sit”. 

Writing: 

• We worked on following writing workshop routines. 
• We worked on using writing materials. 
• We worked on stretching out words to help us write.

What We Will Be Learning Next Month

Reading

• We will practice communicating our ideas when reading a story. 
• We will identify and describe characters, settings, and important events in a story using details
• We will retell stories using the characters, settings, and events in the correct sequence from beginning to end. 
• We will continue to learn about short vowel sounds (e, o, u) in words like “pen” “dog” and “hug”. 

Writing:  

• We will continue to work on writing workshop routines.
• We will continue practicing stretching out words to help us write. 
• We will begin working on personal narratives.

Math

• We learned to follow Math Workshop routines.
• We learned how to take care of our community math tools.
• We are learning to share our thinking as mathematicians.
• We practiced forwards and backwards counting.

• We will continue writing and reading numbers. 
• We will learn about data and how to make and read different types of graphs. 
• We will continue practicing math workshop routines.
