Seasonal Changes

Outcomes (may vary by classroom):

• Students will continue to use sense of change throughout the seasons and observe environmental changes
• Students will observe weather patterns and routines
• Students will practice reciting repeating lines in the story, The Old Man’s Mitten, and practice retelling the story with character pieces
• Continue communicating what they see, hear, feel, taste, touch
• Learn that people can have the same or different feelings about the same thing and that’s okay
• Learning about empathy (caring and helping others)

Sample Activities (may vary by classroom):

• Activities related to winter clothing (identifying, matching, sorting, etc)
• Recall events and characters in stories; recite memorized lines from a story and begin practice retelling a story
• Identify whether they feel the same as or different from others in response to scenarios
• Mindfulness activities including breathing exercises
