Important Dates & Reminders

• Friday, April 1 - Friday, April 8 - No School, Spring Break (We return to school on Monday, April 11)
• iReady testing will take place on Tuesday, April 19th and Wednesday, April 20th. Please be sure that your student is well rested and on time for school.
• Timber Lane Penny Wars begin April 18th and run through April 29th. The grade level that collects the most pennies will win extra recess and a popsicle party. (All money benefits the 6th grade end of year party.)

• Make sure your child comes to school with a snack, water bottle, and an extra mask every day. 
• Contact the attendance office if there is a change to your child’s schedule.

Language Arts

What We Learned This Past Month:

• We completed our unit on Critical Literacy, during reading. Students had the chance to determine the theme in different texts. 
• During writing, students worked on persuasive letters.

What We Will Be Learning Next Month: 

• We will begin our research unit that will link our reading and writing blocks together.
• Students will pick a topic, generate questions they have on that topic, research to find answers, and create a final product to share the information they have learned.

Math

What We Learned This Past Month:

• We started our third addition and subtraction unit, which focuses on double digit numbers.  Students have been learning to estimate and determine sums and differences using the most efficient strategy.  We solved single-step and two-step problems. 

What We Will Be Learning Next Month: 

• In our next unit we will be looking at geometry. Students will learn about the different attributes of some plane and solid shapes. They will also look at symmetry and patterns.

  Following this unit, we will dive into Time and Money

Science

Students are learning about Matter and Forces during our science unit.

Students will continue learning about Matter and Forces during our science unit.

Social Studies

What We Learned This Past Month: 

• We investigated some basic economic ideas in our world today.
• We also completed our Family Life Education unit at the end of the month.  Please reach out to your classroom teacher if you have any questions.

What We Will Be Learning Next Month:

• We will be learning about Civil Rights leaders.
• Our final unit will have us looking into inventions of the past that have influenced the present.
