The Timber Lane Tiger Show Returns
TL Tiger Show
The Timber Lane Tiger Show took place on February 9th in the Timber Lane Gym. Twenty six student acts totaling 43 students shared their many & varied talents; pianists, soccer players, rubix cube solvers, magicians, comedians, martial arts, guitar playing, volleyball skills, singers, gymnasts, and dancers all took to the stage in front of over two hundred audience members. It was a hugely successful event and one sure to be repeated.
The idea for the Timber Lane Tiger Show originated from a group of our current 6th graders. There was supposed to be a talent show when they were in 3rd Grade but then COVID hit and that show was canceled. This school year was the first opportunity for these students to live out their dream of showcasing their talent and that of the TLES student body. Mentored by Ms. Nicole Rieger & Ms. Sarah Wagner, their dream became a reality. These goal directed & resilient 6th graders are Tessa C. Tessie M. Grace H. Madeline W. Hannah D. Evie M.
Planning for this event began back in August of 2022. Mrs. Rieger and these students met during and after school weekly to plan this event. They created objectives and a timeline for the event. With their plans in place, they met with Mr. Chiet (Principal TLES) to share the details of their event, Timber Lane Tiger Show. Mr. Chiet, who is a huge proponent of amplifying student voices, gave the team the green light. The team got to work and created advertising and messaging for the event. December came around quickly and the team realized that they would need to put back the event date. Rather than seeing this as a setback that could not be overcome, these students went back to the drawing board and realized that having additional support would help them meet their goal and that’s when Sam L. & Teddy K. joined the team.
The event organizers planned and held three auditions for students, two after school and one in school, so that every student who wanted to participate had the opportunity to do so. On the night of the event, our 6th grade students ensured that the event was a huge success and began talks about what next year will look like. Congratulations to our student leaders, Tessa, Tessie, Grace, Madeline, Hannah, Evie M, Sam, & Teddy and to their mentors Ms. Rieger & Ms. Wagner.
