Strong PTA

Timber Lane benefits from a highly involved Parent-Teacher Association that supports school events, programs, and community-building initiatives. Their partnership enhances the school environment and strengthens connections among families, staff, and students. The PTA sponsors a wide range of after-school programs, enriching the student experience with diverse opportunities. From arts to academics, there’s something for everyone to explore and enjoy.

Young Scholars Program

The Young Scholars program at Timber Lane provides pathways for students to engage in higher-level thinking and challenging academic experiences in and out of school. This initiative helps uncover and nurture hidden talents. Our expanded Young Scholars program ensures more students have access to advanced academic opportunities. By fostering talent and potential, we are building a foundation for future success. 

Membership Program

Through a mentorship program with McLean High School, students benefit from guidance and inspiration from older peers. This partnership fosters leadership, learning, and collaboration across grade levels. Our Journalism Club also partners with McLean High School, providing students with hands-on experience in reporting and storytelling. This collaboration nurtures creativity and communication skills while connecting students to the world of media.

Career Exploration Programs

Timber Lane is committed to preparing students for the future through partnerships, internships, and career exploration programs. These initiatives lay the foundation for academic and professional success. Field trips to George Mason University, the Think-a-Bit Lab, and Career Day expose students to real-world learning opportunities. Programs like AVID (coming to TLES in ‘25-’26) help students develop the skills they need for college and career readiness.

Enriching Extracurricular Activities

Timber Lane offers a variety of engaging student programs, including the Green Team, Chess Club, Science Olympiads, Math Olympiads, and Journalism Club. These activities help students explore their interests, build skills, and connect with peers. These opportunities allow students to explore their interests and develop new skills outside the classroom.

Community Involvement

 Outreach efforts at Timber Lane have resulted in strong partnerships between the school and families. Timber Lane offers the TLES VIP program, where parents can volunteer to support in their child’s classroom and across the school. This program is open to all family members and provides family members with a great connection to what’s happening daily in school. 

Every Saturday and Sunday family volunteers support our weekend food program. This program is facilitated by Timber Lane families for Timber Lane families and just goes to show how much our families care for one another. Finally through our family and school partnerships, school supplies, summer program scholarships and winter break gift cards are provided from the generous donations and fundraising efforts of our families. These are just a few of the many efforts our families take part in to provide such strong community and school ties.
